H.E. HRT ALI

PROFILE

The Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the United Arab Emirates

His Excellency Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali, fondly called “HRT” in the corporate world, is
a maritime consultant, logistician, gaming consultant, maritime security expert and a
diplomat.

The career of His Excellency HRT Ali began in the port city of Tema, at Messrs
Intercotra Ghana Limited (Intercotra); a shipping company founded by his father –
Alhaji Rashid Hammed Ali. After his early days with Intercotra, HRT went on to build his
now storied professional career which spans international maritime and logistics
groups such as Maersk, Bolloré, CMA CGM, and DHL Global Forwarding. He also
became a founding member and supervisory council member of the Ghana Chamber of
Shipping.

Aside his private sector career, His Excellency HRT Ali maintains an unimpeached
record of public service at state institutions. He has served as a member of the
governing board of Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) and was once Chairman
of the Gaming Commission of Ghana. HRT has also lead Ghana’s premier drydock and
Africa’s largest of its kind – PSC Tema Shipyard; as Chief Executive Officer, he retooled
the then dilapidated facility and instituted corporate governance and operational
efficiency reforms.

At the Design & Technology Institute (DTI), a burgeoning continental hub for Technical
and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Accra, His Excellency HRT Ali served
as a member of the board of directors and was an active student mentor.

Although His Excellency HRT Ali conducted his initial tertiary education in maritime
studies at Central London College (now College of Central London), he has pursued
lifelong learning and continuous self-improvement. He now holds certifications in other
disciplines, namely: national security, diplomacy, and alternative dispute resolution. His
alma maters include Cardiff University, Galilee International Management Institute, and
the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre.

The Ambassador’s Message

Dear Reader,

The Republic of Ghana welcomes you with open arms. As my nation’s lead representative
in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), I am grateful for your interest in our work here at the
embassy, and your interest in Ghana as a whole, by virtue of your visit to this website.

Taking our cue from the words of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama that
“Ghana is open for business”, be assured that you have dependable partners here at the
embassy with whom you can have constructive engagements. Permit me to state that
Accra as the headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
Secretariat is a representation of the axiom – “Ghana is the gateway to Africa”. True to this
axiom, Ghana offers an investment destination that is not limited to its local market but
is also ideal for business ventures aimed at the continental market of 1.4 billion
consumers. Our investment landscape features an efficient and advanced financial
system, and general business environment that is rooted in the adherence to the rule of
law. I assure you that the gateway to Africa is truly open for business.

Ghana’s ongoing RESET Agenda has brought forth transformative initiatives such as the
24-Hour Economy which creates investment opportunities across the nation’s economic
landscape. Notable areas of investment include agriculture, mining, energy, housing,
medical tourism, hospitality, education, artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing,
freezones, road construction, railways, aviation, and maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO).

Under my leadership, Ghana’s Mission to the UAE shall pursue initiatives that deepen
bilateral ties, expand economic cooperation, and spur cultural exchange. I look forward
to fruitful interactions with the diplomatic corps in the UAE, UAE officials and institutions,
the UAE investor community, and all other stakeholders.

To my compatriots who are resident in the UAE, you are most welcome. Rest assured that
the Mission shall attend to your inquiries and requests with utmost care and
attentiveness. I urge you to register at the embassy and continue flying the nation’s flag
high through your positive contributions to our host nation.

Very respectfully yours,

Ambassador HRT Ali.
