His Excellency John Dramani Mahama , President of the Republic of Ghana, on Wednesday paid a solidarity visit to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan , President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
The visit underscored the warm and growing relations between Ghana and the UAE, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
President Mahama was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon . Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa , Ghana’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E . Hammed Rashid Tunde Ali, Joyce Bawah-Mogtari , Special Advisor to the President; Ambassador Aikins , Director of State Protocol; and H.E . Dr . Abdulla Al Mandoos , UAE Ambassador to Ghana.
During the meeting, H.H . Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed the UAE’s strong interest in expanding investment in Ghana, with particular focus on oil storage infrastructure and renewable energy projects. His Highness noted the UAE’s experience in energy and logistics, and Ghana’s strategic position as a gateway to West Africa.
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed also conveyed his intention to undertake an official visit to Ghana soon, to further advance discussions on trade, investment, and strategic partnership.
President Mahama welcomed the interest, highlighting Ghana’s stable democracy, investor-friendly policies, and ongoing reforms in the energy sector. He emphasized Ghana’s readiness to partner with the UAE on projects that promote energy security, job creation, and sustainable development.
Both leaders further exchanged views on regional and global developments, and agreed to maintain close consultation on matters of mutual interest.
The visit marks a significant step in Ghana-UAE relations, building on recent high-level engagements and paving the way for increased Emirati investment in Ghana’s economy.
